FILMIC ARTWORK
E.gress is an evocative filmic piece exploring how ambiguous loss theory (Boss) and the correlation of absence and presence relate to a lived experience of dementia. Multi-layered, the work blends factual with an imagined twilight world of loss and change, and was produced by artist Marie Brett working in collaboration with musician Kevin O’Shanahan, informed though considerable contribution of peoples living with dementia and The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. As a contemplation on loss, love and life itself, this art piece renders a meditative portrait of living moments on life’s edge.
COLLECTION : An Chomhairle Ealaíon National Collection / The Arts Council
The film toured nationally in Ireland to arts, civic and healthcare settings accompanied by an extensive public engagement programme produced by the artist.
